Start-Me-Up Labs initially ran as a pop-up experience at co-working space The Hub and creative conference Semi-Permanent in 2016 as a way to help startups build their Minimal Viable Brands. We recieved an enormous amount of positive feedback, creating almost 300 free identities for startups who were in need of a little design help. (You can see the full experience here.)

While successful as a pop-up, I wanted to find a way to reach more startups outside of those able to attend the events, as well as streamlining the experience for those in the pop-ups. The Start-Me-Up Labs app allows for budding startups, anywhere in the world, to create their brand through a series of interacative steps that reflect the playfulness of the in-store experience. Those who are in-store can use the tablet or phone app to record their purchases through custom scan codes on products, allowing their identity to be built as they go. The app represents the first part of a larger product that would ultimately offer more options and design tools for startups to easily access in their first years of business.
